Appointments

*************************UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2008***************************

1) My schedule is increasingly full, so please call  or email well in advance of your desired appointment date.  You are welcome to call on the spur of the moment, too - who knows?  I might have had a cancellation that day!   In general, because of a standing commitment to deliver corporate massage, WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS are not available until after 5:00 p.m.   All the other days of the week are fair game!  If I'm not immediately available, please do check my referral list  for other massage therapists who may be able to help you out!

2) I provide therapeutic massage services to the patients of the Advanced Center for Physical Therapy (ACPT) as well as to the patients of Michelle Heppner, D.C. , and it is possible in many cases to bill via insurance.   See below for details.

3) I also welcome personal referrals from current clients and from area health-care providers.

4) Public/private school teachers in the Charlottesville/Albemarle school districts will continue to receive a first-session discount through the end of this calendar year.

5) THANKS to all of you who contributed to local fire departments in lieu of tips for the 2nd quarter of the year!  $100.00 went to Stony Point Volunteer Fire Company, and $128.00 went to the Seminole Trail Volunteer Fire Department.  The Disabled Veterans of America (DAV) will be the beneficiaries of any donations I receive in lieu of tips during the months of July, August and September.  Many Thanks in Advance!

My office is located 2114 Angus Road, Suite 211, Charlottesville, VA 22901.  This is near the intersection of Route 29 and the Route 250 By-pass in Charlottesville, across from  Best-Buy. The office can also be reached by public transportation via the Charlottesville Transit Service (CTS) bus line #7. The office is handicapped-accessible, with free parking in the upper back lot for direct access, or in the front  lower lot if you'd like the exercise a flight of stairs provides. Persons with mobility limitations and those arriving after regular business hours should call my cell at 434.242.4887 upon arrival in the parking lot, and I will meet you at the door to assist as needed.

As a professional courtesy, my Angus Road office serves as a satellite office for  the Heppner Family Chiropractic & Wellness Center, and I also treat patients of the Advanced Center for Physical Therapy (ACPT).  Please see my "links/professional" page for contact information for these practices.   Insurance coverage will be accepted only if I am treating you  for a current problem under the supervision of Dr. Heppner or the staff of the ACPT, and the visit will be billed and paid through the  main offices of these practices .  If you are a patient of Dr. Heppner or of the ACPT, but wish to see me for a relaxation massage or for a transient problem not being actively treated, private-pay rates will apply - see below for details.

I do welcome referrals from other health care practices, so if you are interested in using therapeutic massage in combination with your medical, chiropractic, or physical therapy care, please ask your health care provider for a referral!

PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR AVAILABILITY, AS SESSIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

If I am not available to meet your needs in a timely fashion, you are welcome to check my "Links" page for referrals to other therapists, or call me if you need more information.

Scheduling an appointment for massage can be done via telephone or e-mail.

bulletCall 434-242-4887
bulletClick here to send email

In either case, please leave me a message with your name, telephone number, e-mail address if available, type of massage desired, and two or three preferred times.  I will return your call/message promptly to schedule a mutually convenient time.

In most cases, I am happy to travel to YOU for an "outcall" if you wish to have your massage in the privacy and convenience of your own home or office, with one caveat:  the table must be already "on-site".  I can assist you in purchasing a table (an excellent investment), or I can arrange for the loan of one of my tables, on a first-requested, first-served basis,  if you intend to become a regular client.  I will no longer be able to carry my table from home to home, or into hotel rooms.

New clients will be asked to fill out a confidential health history form prior to the first session.  You are welcome to print this from the link provided and fill it out ahead of time, or you may fill it out in the office.

As should be the case with all health care professionals, client confidentiality is always respected.  All client/therapist relationships will remain strictly confidential.

Fees for current clients will remain unchanged as an expression of my appreciation for your business!

For locations outside a ten mile radius of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Airport, there is an additional $0.50 per mile travel fee for the roundtrip.   I will use Expedia.com to calculate distances - the airport code is "CHO", if you'd like to look it up yourself.

Discounted Rates

Discounted rates are available in a number of situations, such as massage parties where 3 or more clients are seen at one location.  Usually, the discount is 10% - but just ask, and we can work something out.

Firefighters and Emergency Service Personnel

These volunteers are greatly appreciated for their service to our community, and I am honored to offer a 20% discount to firefighters and EMS providers in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area.  Just be sure to let me know that you are a firefighter or EMS provider when making the appointment.

Special Programs for Fall 2008

Several of my friends who work as schoolteachers have let me know that Fall is a particularly stressful time of year.  To help ease that stress, I am also offering a $5.00 discount through the end of the calendar year to any teacher, staff member, or employee of local public and private school systems.

Please refer to the Discounted Massage Opportunities link for more detailed information.

Insurance Claims

bulletI have  terminated provider agreements with the American Specialty Health Network due to the overwhelming amount of unnecessary and complex paperwork they require.  My previous agreement basically provided for a discount to $45/hour for those covered by most main-stream insurance companies.  If the small difference between the insurance-discounted price and my regular fee structure is keeping you from getting the services you need, then talk to me.  We'll work it out.
bulletFor those of you have have flexible medical spending accounts, I will happily provide you with an invoice for services rendered so that you can self-submit the claims.  Most often, a physician's referral for therapeutic massage is required -- and all you usually have to do is ask your doctor for it!
bulletUpon request, I will bill workman's comp providers and auto-insurance providers, and will submit the necessary clinical documentation as requested by these companies.  If the provider fails to reimburse me promptly and completely, individuals will be responsible for contacting the provider and pressing for a resolution, and will need to pay me up-front and request direct reimbursement from the payer.
bulletAny treatment I provide under the direct supervision of Dr. Heppner and or the Advanced Center for Physical Therapy (ACPT) will be billed through their offices, and insurance coverage will be determined by the billing staff - I cannot accept payment for patients referred to me by these practices.

Cancellations and Late Arrivals

Cancellations can be made within 12 hours of the appointment without penalty.  If late cancellations are made, or if the appointment is missed entirely, the fee for the missed session should be paid at the time of the next appointment.

Clients who are late to their appointments at my office must be aware that the same fee as for the full appointment applies, and the appointment will most likely end at the planned time, regardless of the start time.  I can extend some sessions if I have no other immediate obligations.

I will make every effort to inform clients in a timely manner of my need to alter appointment times.  In any event, I charge only for "table time", and not for set-up/paperwork time.

Instruction in Basic Massage Techniques

Client instruction/demonstration of massage techniques is available upon request; fees negotiable.  This is particularly relevant for caregivers of persons with chronic illnesses or disabilities, where routine massage may be beneficial, but the costs of ongoing sessions of professional massage may be cost-prohibitive.

I also very much enjoy teaching couples the basics of relaxation massage!  If you're interested in learning how to give a full-body relaxation massage to family members or friends, just ask about  a three-session lesson series.

In addition, I occasionally teach classes in basic massage techniques at various locations, including the Greene County Parks and Recreation Department.  In general, I will leave it up to you to recruit a number of people (usually 4 - 20) who are interested, and once that is done, we can arrange the details of a class tailored to the needs of the group.  For more information, click here.

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates for any occasion are available by request.  Purchase 10 or more gift certificates and receive a 20% discount!
