Appointments
*************************UPDATE APRIL 2010***************************
1) I'm truly sorry to say that I will be closing my
practice on May 1st for at least 6 months to focus on my own health and
family. All active clients will receive specific referrals to local
therapists who I think might best meet your needs. If you haven't seen
me in a while, please check my
referral list for
other local massage therapists who may be able to help you out, and/or call me
or email me
so that I can steer you in the direction of the therapists who would be most
able to meet your particular needs - I'm happy to assist even though the
practice will be officially closed!
2) Any and all gift certificates will be honored - no matter
when you got them, and no matter if you're a regular client or a new one!
Please call me, and I will refer you to a therapist who can provide the
massage services in my place. If this is not a satisfactory solution
for you, I would be happy to refund the cost of the gift certificate.
3) THANKS to all of you who contributed so generously to the Southern
Poverty Law Center in lieu of tips. The total donation I made at
the beginning of May 2010 on your behalf was almost THREE HUNDRED
DOLLARS!! The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was
founded in 1971 as a small civil rights law firm. Today, SPLC is
internationally known for its tolerance education programs, its legal
victories against white supremacists and its tracking of hate groups.

My office is located 2114
Angus Road, Suite 211, Charlottesville, VA 22901. This is near the
intersection of Route 29 and the Route 250 By-pass in Charlottesville,
across from Best-Buy. The office can also
be reached by public transportation via the Charlottesville Transit Service
(CTS) bus line #7. The office is handicapped-accessible, with free
parking in the upper back lot for direct access, or in the front
lower lot if you'd like the exercise a flight of stairs provides. Ignore the
threatening signs that say "Private Lot" and just park in any unmarked
space. Persons with mobility limitations and those arriving after regular business hours
should call my cell at 434.242.4887 upon arrival in the parking lot, and I
will meet you at the door to assist as needed.
********************************************************************
PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR AVAILABILITY, AS SESSIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
If I am not available to meet your needs in a timely fashion, you are
welcome to check my "Links" page for referrals to other therapists, or call me if
you need more information.
********************************************************************
Scheduling an appointment for massage can be done via telephone or
e-mail.
In either case, please leave me a message with your name, telephone
number, e-mail address if available, type of massage desired, and two or
three preferred times. I will return your call/message promptly to schedule a
mutually convenient time.
In most cases, I am happy to travel to YOU for an
"outcall" if you wish to have your massage in the privacy and
convenience of your own home or office, with one caveat: the table
must be already "on-site". I can assist you in purchasing a table
(an excellent investment), or I can arrange for the loan of one of my
tables, on a first-requested, first-served basis, if you intend to
become a regular client. I will no longer be able to
carry my table from home to home, or into hotel rooms.
New clients will be asked to fill out a confidential health history form prior to
the first session. You are welcome to print this from the link
provided and fill it out ahead of time, or you may fill it out in the
office.
As should be the case with all health care professionals, client
confidentiality is always respected. All client/therapist
relationships will remain strictly confidential.
Fees for current clients will remain unchanged as an
expression of my appreciation for your business!

it up yourself. |

Discounted Rates
Discounted rates are available in a number of situations, with
particular emphasis on honoring people that serve our community:
Firefighters, EMS personnel, military service personnel, teachers, etc.
Long-time clients and persons wishing to purchase multiple gift
certificates are also eligible for discounted rates. If you under
a financial strain and feel that you need some leeway on the regular
fees, feel free to discuss your wishes with me. I won't be
offended by the question, and I'll either say yes or no, so it can't
hurt to ask.
Please refer to the Discounted
Massage Opportunities link for more detailed information.
Insurance Claims
 | I have terminated provider agreements with the American
Specialty Health Network due to the overwhelming amount of unnecessary
and complex paperwork they require. My previous agreement
basically provided for a discount to $45/hour for those covered by most
main-stream insurance companies. If the small difference
between the insurance-discounted price and my regular fee structure is
keeping you from getting the services you need, then talk to me.
We'll work it out. |
 | For those of you have have flexible medical spending accounts, I
will happily provide you with an invoice for services rendered so that
you can self-submit the claims. Most often, a physician's referral
for therapeutic massage is required -- and all you usually have to do is
ask your doctor for it! |
 | Upon request, I will bill workman's comp providers and
auto-insurance providers, and will submit the necessary clinical
documentation as requested by these companies. If the provider
fails to reimburse me promptly and completely, individuals will be responsible for
contacting the provider and pressing for a resolution, and will
need to pay me up-front and request direct reimbursement from the payer.

Cancellations and Late Arrivals
Please be aware that the biggest problems caused by clients who cancel
late or simply don't show up are that: 1) you're wasting
my time, and more importantly, 2) you're keeping someone else
from receiving services!
Cancellations can be made at least 12 hours before the appointment without penalty. If late cancellations are made,
or if the appointment is missed entirely, the fee for the missed session
should be paid at the time of the next appointment.
Clients who are late to their appointments at my office must be aware
that the same fee as for the full appointment applies, and the appointment
will most likely end at the planned time, regardless of the start time.
I can extend some sessions if I have no other immediate obligations.
I will make every effort to inform clients in a timely manner in the
unlikely event of my
need to alter appointment times. In any case, I charge only for
"table time", and not for set-up/paperwork time.
Instruction in Basic Massage Techniques (THIS IS ONE OF MY
FAVORITE THINGS TO DO, AND IT'S THE ONLY WAY I PLAN TO ACCEPT NEW
PRIVATE CLIENTS IN 2009!)
Client instruction/demonstration of massage techniques is available
upon request; fees negotiable. This is particularly relevant for caregivers of persons with chronic illnesses or disabilities, where
routine massage may be beneficial, but the costs of ongoing sessions of
professional massage may be cost-prohibitive.
I also very much enjoy teaching couples the basics of relaxation
massage! If you're interested in learning how to give a full-body
relaxation massage to family members or friends, just ask about a
three-session lesson series.
In addition, I occasionally teach classes in basic massage techniques
at various locations, including the Greene County Parks and Recreation
Department. In general, I will leave it up to you to recruit a
number of people (usually 4 - 20) who are interested, and once that is
done, we can arrange the details of a class tailored to the needs of the
group. For more information, click
here.
Gift Certificates
Gift certificates
for any occasion are available by request. Purchase 5 or more gift certificates and
receive a 10% discount!
